A dramatic finish to a great game of football in the Sportswik Youth League, East Division, between Whyteleafe U18s and Kent side Tunbridge Wells. The two sides met earlier in the season and Tunbridge Wells ran out 4-2 winners at their Culverdon Stadium. The game kicked off at a fast pace with Tunbridge Wells making all the running and two shots in the first four minutes were saved by Whyteleafe keeper Allesandro Morrone. Whyteleafe were missing their strong centre half Tariq Brown who was called up to the development squad for their away game at Hastings. Jack Clark a tall 16 year old was a suitable replacement and had a magnificient game alongside the ever reliable Marco Fung. Whyteleafe made their first attack on the away team goal on 5 minutes, when a good pasing movement started by Lewis Miller in mid-field who found Sean Marcano and his shot was saved by the excellent keeper Elliot Osborn in the away team goal. The away side were playing good football and their talented number 6 Joe Pickett was involved in most of their movements. On 15minutes Cian Richardson had a long range shot which was saved by keeper Morrone. Whyteleafe came more into the game when Elliot McLean found Ada Okorogheye who went pass a couple of defenders before hitting the side netting. Josh Berkerley was having a quiet game and was fouled on 35minutes, from the resulting free kick Max Kenny had the Tunbridge keeper scrambling to knock the ball over the bar for a corner. Following the corner keeper Osborn cleared upfield to set up another away team attack but the Whyteleafe back four stood firm and cleared the danger. Whyteleafe came back into the attack Sam Mason made a run down the right flank found Ada who beat a couple of players before finding Bradley Williams who's shot was brilliantly saved by the inform Tunbridge Wells keeper Elliot Osborn. Tonbridge came back on the attack with a couple of quick passes and a low shot whick saw keeper Morrone beaten but Marco Fung got back to clear off the line on 44minutes and set up a whyteleafe attack which saw the ball go out of play, and Referee Tim Gilmore blow his whistle for half - time. Whyteleafe 0 - 1 Tunbridge Wells.
Manager Darren Kenny made a change for the start of the second half 15 year old Neil Spencer replacing Josh Berkerley, Whyteleafe went straight on the attack and a cross from Ada into the away team box was comfortable taken by keeper Osborn. Good counter attack by Tunbridge Wells and a fine shot by Ewen Jeffrey was save by Morrone in the Whyteleafe Goal.
