Maidstone winners at the Gallagher Stadium

Maidstone second in the Bostik Youth League East Division.

Whyteleafe's visit to the magnificent Gallagher Stadium the home of Maidstone Football Club ended in defeat with a goal in each half by the home side to move to second place ib the League table and just two points behind leaders Shoreham. An exciting game of football with both teams playing good attractive football. Maidstone was first on the attack when centre forward Tom Barton made a good run and shot but keeper Alex Theobald in the Whyteleafe goal made a good save. The game swung from end to end with both teams looking for the all important break through. Maidstone liked to play the long ball every now and then but Whyteleafe's full backs of Dom Phillips and Jack Linscer were dealing with this threat. Whyteleafe set up an attack with Josh Walker-Reifet finding his midfield partner Bradley Williams who made an excellent run and his shot was saved by Billy King in the home teams goal. Maidstone were getting great support from their supporters which helped the players . The deadlock was broken on 40minutes when Maidstone were awarded a freekick to the left of the penalty area, an excellent free which was met by Liam McCreadie and his brilliant header gave keeper Theobald no chance. Half Time Maidstone 1 v Whyteleafe 0.
The second half started with Adam Bambroffe replacing the injured Neil Spencer. Both teams continued to play good attacking football and Tyrese Miller received a good pass from Adam Bambroffe and his shot was again saved by keeper King in the homes team goal. Maidstone were awarded a corner on 55minutes Dom Phillips cleared the ball upfield to set up another Whyteleafe attack and a good cross from Josh Walker-Reifet was cleared by the Maidstone defence. A high challenge by Maidstone Colby Wait was penalised by the referee and a free kick awarded to Whyteleafe. From the free kick deep into the home teams area was cleared by keeper Billy King who was having a fine game in the home teams goal. Maidstone made two quick attacks and Tom Bartons effort was saved by keeper Alex Theobald who pushed the away in the line of Johnny Phillips to shoot at goal but keeper Theobold again brought off a great save to keep Whyteleafe in the game. Sam Mason and Tariq Brown were working hard and trying to set up attacks. Maidstone made their first change with Jamie Duckering replacing goal scorerLiam McCreadie. Maidstone made a second change on 65minutes Charlie Vass replaced Callum Wallace. Whyteleafe made a double substitution Frankie Walker and Sean Marcano replacing Josh Walker-Refeit and Jacob Spencer. Maidstone scored their second goal on 88minutes when Tom Barton scored from close range. Final Score Maidstone 2 v Whyteleafe 0.
