James Allen scores twice in Whyteleafe's win at Chertsey Town.

Chertsey Town kicked off on this cold and dry night looking for their first points of the season. Chertsey won the toss and decided to kick off in front of a large crowd a long ball into the Whyteleafe for Mohair Ali to control the ball and send a good pass to team captain Alfie Garland marking his first start since recovering from injury and his excellent pass found Jimmy Williams who shot wide. The home team were trying to find their feet in the first few minutes and were pressing very high up the field. A good run by Korede Oderindre down the left side and he was challenged and fouled by Jack Cleary. Albie Garland sent the free kick into the home teams area and out for a goal kick. Chertsey made a quick break and Freddie Fraser had a good shot on goal but keeper Baldwin Kaluya made a brilliant save and pushed the ball out for a corner. Whyteleafe on the attack following a good flowing move from the back Thomas Dugdale made a good run and passed to Tom Smith who beat a couple of players before passing to James Allen who sent the ball behind the Chertsey Defence for Jimmy Williams to run onto inside the box and was fouled by keeper Rudy Talboys and Referee Reuben Simon pointed to the spot, up stepped James Allen and made no mistake 0 - 1 to
Whyteleafe on 14 minutes. Chertsey Town came back into the game and some good midfield play by Alfie Huckle who passed to Freddie Fraser who was fouled and a free kick to the home side. A swift movement by Whyteleafe saw the hard working Tom Annetts collect the ball and pass to Zohair Ali who had moved forward and his first time cross into the box for James Allen to head home on 21minutes 0 - 2 to Whyteleafe. From the restart Chertsey Town made another good attack down right side and Joe Carrington dealt with the situation. Alec Campbell was coming more into the game and made some fine moves into the home teams area. A good ball into the Whyteleafe area saw Zohair Ali control the ball and make another run into the midfield area only to suddenly stop and fall over having pulled a muscle in his leg, after treatment from the Physio Zohair had to leave the field of play and was replaced by Callum Ford 26minutes. Whyteleafe continued to attack and a first time pass from Albie to Alec Campbel who crossed into the area for keeper Rudy Talboys to collect and clear upfield to find Alfie Huckle and a fine challenge by Tom Annetts to set up another Whyteleafe attack to send the ball back into the Chertsey area for Jack Cleary to make a good clearance for the home side to find Freddie Fraser and the winger had another fine shot on goal but Baldwin made another excellent save in the Whyteleafe goal. A late challenge by Connor Gray of Chertsey on Tom Smith saw referee show his first Yellow card of the game on 45minutes.

Chertsey Town made a change at the start of the second half with Finn Haughey replacing Braydon Tanna. Whyteleafe back on the attack following a good challenge and clearance by Joe Carrington found Tom Annetts and Tom's first time pass to Jimmy Williams inside the box but the Assistant Referee flagged for offside. Whyteleafe made their second change on 60minutes with George Craig replacing the energetic Alec Campbell. Tom Annetts won a good ball in midfield before passing to Tom Smith who beat a couple of players before passing to Albie and he was tackled and fouled. Chertsey Town made their second change on 67minutes Leon Byrne - Adam replaced by Marco Randhawa. Chertsey got back into the game and a long shot from Alfie Huckle was high over the bar. Chertsey Town made their final change on 72minutes with Nathan Goddard replacing the hard working Connor Gray. Whyteleafe made their final change on 75minutes with Josh Johnstone replacing Tom
Annetts. Chertsey Town back on the attack and a good shot from Jake Melvin was well saved by Baldwin in the Whyteleafe goal. Josh Johnstone won the ball for Whyteleafe in the midfield area made a great pass to inform striker James Allen and his first time shot brought off an excellent by Chertsey Keeper Rudy Talboys. Korede made an other excellent run down the left on 81minutes and crossed into the box to Jimmy Williams and his first time shot was deflected out for a corner. Play continued from end to end with Chertsey Town attacking and looking for their first goal of the season. Chertsey back on the attack and a good cross found Jake Melvin but the Assistant Referee flagged for offside. George Craig was now controlling the midfield area along with Tom Smith and a great ball from George sent Jimmy Williams through to score on 89minutes. In added a fine run by Albie Garland passed the ball to Jimmy Williams and his brilliant ball across the box was just missed by a great run by James Allen.
