The Villagers will be going for four wins in a row when they face Garforth this Saturday on Northfields first team pitch.

Wibsey
Wibsey are currently full of confidence after their first three in a row wins for a season and a half and the fact that they are continuing to improve and gel as a team, the new boys are fitting in nicely, training is going well and the back room staff have a quiet confidence about them. Wibsey will be looking at this game as an opportunity to springboard into the playoff positions although the top two teams are very strong and already have a lead on us (Hornsea 29pts Stanley 25pts with a game in hand, Wibsey 19pts)

It has been a long time since the mention of a promotion attack has raised its head for Wibsey but it is currently a real possibility and is there on the horizon, the period over Christmas (A-Knaresborough, H-Rossington, A-Hornsea) will be crucial to all League 5 teams with Rossington only a point behind us with only a try bonus separating the teams. Hopefully Hallamshire can do us a favour this weekend.

Garforth
Garforth have not had the best of seasons so far, losing players to other teams and not having a recognised coach. They have struggled this season with only two wins under their belts (away to Thirsk 10-19 and at home to Knaresborough 33-5) along with the draw against The Villagers when they hosted us in the middle of September.

League 5 top two: Hornsea are away at Thirsk and should strengthen their lead in the league with Stanley at home to Knaresborough who Wibsey lost to in a 0-3 encounter which should have been drawn in the final minutes, this could be tricky for Stanley although they have generally been strong and will likely advance.

These Wibsey/Garforth encounters have generally been close or close-ish, a couple of scores separating the teams, there has never been any landslide victories between the two and one is not expected this Saturday either.

Garforth have had the lions share of the victories with Wibsey but the current resurgence by The Villagers might come some way to evening out the balance. Both teams managed a home win last season with this starting with the high scoring stalemate.

The last time Wibsey won 4 in a row was way back in the promotion season of 2003/2004 where they had the last 7 matches chalked up as wins and ran the first of the 2004/2005 season as a victory on top. Wins began after a loss to Garforth and were against Thirsk (10-3 & 13-19) Garforth (13-12) Marist (33-0 & 0-23) Ossett (11-13) Rawmarsh (33-0) and Wharfedale Rams (0-20)

A must watch game for any Wibsey follower, past or present.

Come to Northfield road top pitch this Saturday to join the ever present Bert Hamilton to watch The Villagers go for four wins on the bounce.
