Wick FC have entered Jewsons Building Better Communities Competition to ask for help refurbishing its old changing rooms / showers

In 1980, changing rooms were built with a small grant from the local council, help from local businesses and a group of volunteers. We find ourselves in the position of having to update these facilities so that they remain fit for purpose.

Fabric of the buildings has deteriorated over the last thirty years. Vandalism to the roof has caused water damage to the ceilings, and some are in danger of collapse. Insulating the roof will both reduce the risk of burst pipes, and heat loss from what is a cold changing area. Improvements to the roof will aid to minimising energy bills and thus contribute to reducing our ‘Carbon Footprint.’ Our toilets are unhygienic, and in urgent need of modernisation. There are signs of damp that need to be treated and preventative action taken ensuring the damp does not return. All improvements will benefit the local community, all members and visitors to WSG, and will allow us to encourage other groups to participate in sport, and to make use of the MUGA that is currently being built. It will also be our aim to use local builders and trades people which will help to provide work to local people and the community.

Our objective is to provide and increase sporting opportunities to members and the local community in an enjoyable and supportive environment and to operate an ‘Open Door’ policy in relation to membership, regardless of race, religion, gender or ability.
