Widnes play their first home game since 10th January today, when they take on Penrith at Heath Road.

It has been a long time between drinks since their last home game against Eccles on 10th January which they won 17 – 13 in a tight contest.

Since then, they have been on the road at Birkenhead Park, Vale of Lune and Bolton – with mixed results - whilst their home game against Wilmslow fell foul of the weather caused by a waterlogged pitch. In addition, they were also forced to sit out last weekend because Lancashire Trophy opponents Rochdale had to play a re-arranged league game in North One East. A new date for the cup-tie is expected to be confirmed shortly.

But back to Saturday’s game; and the Cumbrians currently sit one place above Widnes in fourth spot, and a win for the ‘Heath Roaders’ will see them move above their opponents in the table.

Not that this game will be easy – far from it. Penrith were comfortable winners in the first game at Winters Park back in October, but Widnes had a much changed team that day, and will be hoping that they can turn the tables second time around.

In other senior games; the Seconds are away at Warrington, and the Thirds host Merseyside Police over on Prescot Road.

All games kick off at 2.15pm
