The season draws to a close this week with WRU I at home to Ford 'B'.
WRU II welcome Eli Lilly to Heath Road.
WRU III have no match having completed their fixtures. WRU IV have a final fixture against Sutton Manor'C' and at the time of writing were re-arranging their one outstanding fixture against Daresbury 'B'
We have all benefited and enjoyed our first season at W.R.U F.C. the facilities provided to us are first class and the assistance, co-operation and support from the Club committee and has been tremendous.
In playing terms it has been a mixed season, WRU I have found the standard of the first division very high and have struggled with the pace and technique of most of the teams in the division. They have had a few heady moments and have undoubtedly improved. They will take that back into the second Division next season where they will certainly be among the title contenders yet again.
WRU II are the run away winners of the second division with the other teams having had purely a mathematical chance of topping them since perhaps 3/4 of the the way through the season. They will replace WRU I in the first divison so at least our club maintains representation in the higher ranks.
WRU III has maintained it's continuous year on year improvements climbing to within a couple of games of a mid-division position. WRU IV have had a season they will want to forget, being without their top two players all season and then by their No 3 and No. 4 players for the latter third of the season has taken it's toll and their position belies their true status, the addition of David, Jordan and John bode well for both teams making a serious assault on honours next season.
We are still looking forward to new players joining us, so if you fancy a try, don't be shy, come and join us on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. See Frank Lawless for any further information you might like know.
See you next season.
