A look ahead to Widnes' penultimate away game of the season at Chadderton

Widnes FC will travel to Chadderton on Bank Holiday Monday in search of a first-ever league win at Andrew Street as Joey Dunn's side continue their title challenge.

Saturday's 5-0 win over Eccleshall extended Widnes' superb run of form to 10 consecutive victories in the league - keeping six straight clean sheets in the process.

Billy Webb and Chad Whyte both netted doubles in the victory over the Eagles, with George Lomax adding a fifth for Widnes.

Dunn's side currently sit second in the Hallmark Security League First Division, one point behind leaders Charnock Richard. The Whites will be focused on recording a further three points to keep the pressure on their Lancashire-based rivals with only four games left to play.

The trip to Chadderton will be massive test of Widnes' title credentials, as Chaddy have already beaten Widnes twice this season.

Mark Howard's men took the spoils in the reverse fixture back in August, with goals from Matthew Crothers and James Curley cancelling out Kevin Pollard's opener. Chadderton then progressed to the First Round Proper of the FA Vase with victory at the Select Security Stadium in September.

Manager Howard has enjoyed a successful first season in charge. Chadderton sit ninth in the First Division and they are 90 minutes away from the Macron Cup final, having beaten City of Liverpool 2-0 in the First Leg away from home a little over a week ago with the second leg to come on Thursday.

Last time out, Crothers netted the solitary goal in Chadderton's 1-0 win away at Carlisle City.

Last Time We Met

With Joey Dunn watching from the stands following his appointment as manager, Chadderton beat Widnes 4-1 to progress to the First Round Proper of the FA Vase.

George Lomax's debut goal proved to be little more than a consolation, as a Nicholas Alexander brace and a Matthew Landregan goal had already killed the game as a contest before Crothers sealed the victory 12 minutes from time.

Joey Dunn looks ahead...

Manager Dunn insists that his side will remain focused on the task in-hand and look to pick up all three points.

He said: "We've got to concentrate on what we want to do.

"We'll be going there with players who were kept fresh today and we'll rotate again.

"We're only looking for three points. Once we do that, we can see what else is happening around us.

"But to be honest, we're only concentrating on our games at the moment."
