Everything you need to know ahead of Widnes' Macron Cup semi-final second leg against Winsford United

Over two weeks on from the first leg, Widnes travel to the St Luke's Barton Stadium tonight looking to finish the job against Winsford United.

Widnes carry a 5-0 lead into the second leg after a Kev Towey hat-trick, coupled with further goals from Ben Hodkinson and Michael Grogan secured an emphatic first leg win.

A place in the final against Burscough awaits for the winners at Fleetwood Town's Highbury Stadium on Tuesday 15th May, after the Linnets knocked out Irlam over two legs, 3-0 on aggregate.

Towey and co-boss Steve Akrigg will be eager for a positive result to secure safe progression into the final, with promotion to the Northern Premier League still very much a possibility for Widnes with two league games left to play.

Widnes' form since the tail-end of November has been nothing short of remarkable, picking up maximum points from 21 of their last 23 league contests. In all competitions, Akrigg and Towey's men have won 26 of their previous 29 fixtures.

The Whites will be buoyed by scoring 16 goals in their previous five games, without conceding a goal.

Last time out, Widnes won 2-0 at Maine Road last night with Towey and George Lomax netting second half goals.

Lee Duckworth's Winsford side have played six games since the first leg, winning three games and losing three. They have scored and conceded 13 goals over that run of fixtures.

With a Mid-Cheshire Cup Final to come on Thursday against Witton Albion, the Blues will be looking to maintain momentum picked up from last night's emphatic 5-1 win at Irlam. Callum Gardner scored twice.

Team News

Sam Sheen (hernia) is in contention to return for Widnes and could feature tonight
