Past players association - the Morgans 1 of 2

1. Introduction

In recognition of the appointment of former player and coach Alan Hodkinson as Club President it has been decided to form a Past Players Association.
For obvious reasons the name of the group will be called ‘The MORGANS’
(Miserable Old Rugby Greats And Neverbeens Society)

The initial aims of the association will be:

Reuniting colleagues, former players and managers

Supporting and promoting the club

To meet regularly throughout the year at home and away and hold a number of functions/reunions throughout the season

To encourage former players who have played for the club at senior level to promote and foster the game of rugby at Wigan Rugby Union Club and to renew their friendships and memories with other former players of the club.

The organising committee will initially consist of Malc Holland and Ian Jeffrey who would appreciate any ideas for promoting the Association. The group is open to all former players irrespective of level or time played. We need to get in touch with past players via social media to rekindle their past interest with the club.
This whole effort is so reliant on those reading this and telling others that used to play. Get involved and send your contact details to:

Malc at malcolm@nmsltd.co.uk
Chip at ian.jeffrey@pirtekwigan.co.uk

We can then format a data base of contacts. We have a long list of people who are still around but need some help putting contact info to the names. The point is to reconnect old players with the club have a bit of fun and maybe raise a bit of money for club related causes. A Facebook page for the Association will be set up shortly.
It is envisaged that the first official ‘get –together’ will be on Saturday 10th of December when the first team play Broughton Park at home And please remember the Past Players Association is open to anyone who played for ANY team, whatever level and simply aims to maintain and promote the camaraderie, friendship and fellowship generated during the playing years
