Wigan Rugby Union are proud to have 3 players selected to represent Merseyside in competitive fixtures.

On Monday 13th April - Three of Wigan's U13's squad made their competitive debuts for Merseyside in a triangular tournament with Greater Manchester and North Lancashire at Liverpool St Helens RUFC.

The players Tom Peters (scrum half), Corey Bowker (prop) and Kyle Stephenson (flanker) all played staring roles as Merseyside beat both North Lancashire and Greater Manchester. Corey scored an outstanding length of the field try, Tom gave a masterclass in scrum half play and Kyle reproduced his usual robust tackling and rampaging carries. A special mention must also go to a fourth player - Oliver Whitcomb - who was selected for and training with Merseyside all season - but has recently relocated to Worcester due to family work commitments.

All players have excelled, not just in these games but throughout the last few years. Their commitment and attitude to training has ensured that their ability has come to the fore week in week out in competitive fixtures. If they continue to show the same levels of dedication to the game they will give themselves an excellent chance of making the full Lancashire squad when the three regions combine.

The club are delighted for the boys, who's names are added to the growing list of representative honours gained from the junior section over the last few years, making Wigan Rugby Union a hotbed for producing the Rugby Union Stars of the future.

Congratulations to all four boys - your future is very bright!
