On a cold sunday morning St cuthberts Under 10's welcomed Saddleworth Rangers to Monty park.

Right from the off you could see that both sides had been working on thier defence. big hits all round and not alot of ground was being made. Half way through the first half both teams realised that middle running wouldn't get them any points and started to throw the ball about. The first score came soon after for cuths, Luke Samuel opening the scoring with a good scoot from dummy half opening up the defence. Saddleworth hit back with a try before luke again scooted for the line on the last play of the half. As he dived for the line he had 2 players underneath and 2 on top and nobody could see the ball. Then a Saddleworth players looked at me from beneath and said he did ground the ball. Second try to Luke but even bigger praise for the honest rangers lad.

Half time , cuths 10-6 Saddleworth.

The second half much the same as the first, great work by both in defence undone by luke grabbing his hat trick, and Adam Lavin with a good run, scoring out wide. The visitors grabbing the final try with the last touch of the game, bringing an end to a very enjoyable match.

Defence wins games is always our motto, and today it showed.

Big thanks to all at saddleworth.
