If the draw away at Blackbrook was a bad draw, today was definitely a good one.
Pats have hit inconsistency this season so the prospect of travelling away to the only undefeated team in the league was not a great prospect. The previous match issues were still there, poor marker play, lack of line speed and far,far too much dropped ball particularly in our own half, but the difference today from other games we should have won against East, Waterhead and Blackbrook was ATTITUDE and DESIRE, which could not be faulted today.
Pats got out of the blocks well and forced Halton into an error, which resulted in our only score on 90 seconds, Michael Fairclough
with a great off load to the supporting Cameron Brown
who crashed over.
Halton managed to score under the sticks when Pats failed to clean up a bomb, thankfully Darren Lockyer stepped up to miss the kick !
Half time 4-4.
The second half was mostly Halton attacking and Pats defending due to the formentioned errors, but they did it magnificently with a few body on the line try saving tackles from Bradley Clarke
, Cameron Brown
and two out wide from Callum Green
. Pats managed to hold out after a bit of Fergy time from the ref for a well deserved draw.
Today as they did in the second half against Judes and against Newton, Pats have shown that they can mix it with the best but that determination needs to be displayed every week.
All the team deserves the man of the match today and you can all be proud of your efforts.
