Magpies came up against Cadishead Rhino’s for the first time. The Rhino’s came with low numbers and with Josh, Noah and Danny helping out in the first half and Logan and Patrick in the second the game went ahead.
Conditions as normal – mud, rain and freezing cold!
St.Pats dominated the first half with a well organised defence. Adam, Jordan and Owen in particular all put in an outstanding effort. Kian and Toby were working the drop off well, Elliot and Logan moving the ball wide and with Patrick and Lewis running strong the tries soon came.
Some of the rugby being played defied the conditions, the ball was being moved quickly through hands and excellent support play was rewarded. Highlight of the first half coming when Toby dropped Logan off 10m from his own line, Logan went 40m finding the supporting Patrick who crossed in the corner. Other great first half tries came for Toby, Kian, Logan and Elliot. Half time 24-0.
Danny and Noah returned to the fold in exchange for Logan and Patrick. Josh who had put in a stirling effort for Cadishead went off injured. Pats were put under more pressure in the second half with Logan and Patrick testing the defence. Patrick being rewarded with the Rhino’s only try.
Overall Pats were outstanding in dreadful conditions; every player made his mark and contributed to a fine team performance – well done lads!
Tries came for Toby 3, Jordan 1, Kian 2, Logan 1, Patrick 2, Elliot 3, and Owen 1.
Big thank you to Cadishead who showed great character and determination. They continued to play rugby from the first to the last whistle -well done.
