Wigtownshire RFC "24 hour Touch Rugby" Game
Yes folks it back, so get your boots looked out and get yourself along to support Eddie Stevenson and the boys in this marathon event. The game kicks off at 5.30 p.m. on Friday 8th July 2016 at London Road Playing Fields, Stranraer. Play continues for 24 hours with teams and player changing on the run. I understand they might change ends at 5.30 a.m and the final whistle blows at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday 9th July 2016.
Who can play? Anybody can join in, it is "Touch Rugby" where the touch replaces the tackle and the touched player must pass the ball. So Mums and Dads, Grannies and Grandpas and children of all ages can play.
The event is part of the annual Royal Bank of Scotland "RugbyForce" Weekend, a wee bit earlier than other clubs, by with the same aim; "to promote rugby in the local area, give people a chance to "TRY" the game and visit the club"
"TRY" is a very important word during the game on the day. A count will be kept of all tries scored during the game. A competition will be held to guess the total with a cash prize for the closest guess. The money raised on the day and through the competition will be used to promote and support rugby locally.
So come along, get involved, put a team together and have a go, or just turn up on the day and join in. No experience needed, we will show you what to do, if you want to help, provide sponsorship or support, in anyway the anyway, get in touch with Eddie Stevenson and see how you can help.
Most of all, what is needed is players, keeping going for 24 hours is hard, even the balls wear out, they really do! So come along and give it a TRY, be all you can be, PLAY RUGBY
