The headlines from the clubs AGM

After another record breaking year no less than 24 members attended the Wilburton Cricket Club Annual General Meeting.

After a review of the season and thanks given from club Secretary John Gothard, the members all voted on nominated votes. Below are the off-field roles that were elected for the 2019 season.

Club Captain - Tom Walker

Treasurer - Calum Steel
Fundraising Official - Matt Morton
Groundsman - Ryan Newton/Ben Shipp
Colts Coaches - Tom Walker/Joe Murfitt
Welfare Officer - Susan Dewey

Roles in bold are retained from 2018 season

Further to this the three adult captains were elected. With only one vote taking place the following captains were voted upon

1st XI - John Falconer
2nd XI - Paul Dewey
3rd XI - Charlie Tunnell

All three captains are set to announce their vice captains soon to the public, with rumours surrounding the Piece Ground that John Falconer is set to re-elect Conor Logan after the pairs success last season. Paul Dewey is no new name to captaincy at the club, having more than one shield to his name already across the 1st and 2nd teams, whilst youngster Tunnell will be looking to bring a fresh and young energy on and off the field.

It was announced that the colts set up would continue under the guidance of Club Captain Tom Walker and 1st XI batsman Joe Murfitt, both who work in a teaching/coaching profession. More will follow the winter programme in the near future.

Hall of Fame inductee Ron Sizer officially stepped down after more than 20 years of service to the club. The club could not thank Ron enough for his devoted time and hours to Wilburton CC, his inductee is testament to the regard he is held in at the Piece Ground. A further in-depth look into Rons career will be released shortly.

Many thanks to all those who have been apart of another magical year at the club. Stay posted over the winter months.
