Evo-Stik League First Division South club Sutton Coldfield Town are planning a move to bring Ross Miller back to the Midlands. The former Willenhall Town and Chasetown defender has been playing for Spalding United among their Birmingham contingent, but Sutton have filed a seven- day approach to their league rivals for the player. Royals` manager Chris Keogh plans to speak to Miller later this week. Assistant boss Neil Tooth said: “We need to strengthen at the back and Ross can play anywhere across the back line. ‘‘He can do a job in a number of positions and hopefully he will agree to join us.” Sutton are keen to bolster their ranks to ensure they are fully equipped to maintain a promotion play-off chance. |

Dean Saunders, manager of Blue Square Bet Premier club Wrexham, is desperate to strike a deal to sign ex Willenhall Town legend Mark Creighton because he feels he needs a fourth centre-back to help maintain his side`s promotion bid. Creighton has returned to parent club Oxford United after completing a loan spell during which time he was not on the losing side in six outings. Despite being under contract at Oxford until the summer of 2012, Creighton has been told he does not have a future at The Kassam Stadium by manager Chris Wilder. Hoping to come to an agreement with Oxford to sign Creighton, Saunders wants a fourth centre back to compete with Marvin Andrews, Frank Sinclair and Chris Blackburn. “I am just trying to do something with Mark,” said Saunders. “He has gone back to Oxford now but I am trying to do a deal. “I don’t know whether I can as he is earning more money at Oxford than what we’ve been paying him. “But I would love to keep Mark - he is exactly what we need in this division. He does what is needed, he heads balls away and has done well for us. “If we can get Mark that will be him, Marvin, Frank and Chris – four centre backs – and that will carry us through until the end of the season.” Unbeaten in eight league matches, seventh-placed Wrexham are just three points away from the play-off places but Saunders has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his squad during the transfer window. |

HALESOWEN Town face a fight to keep ex Lockman Justin Nesbitt after Redditch United put the striker on their wanted list. The Yeltz are already looking for a goalkeeper after Nick Bussey decided to return to former club, Kettering Town. It meant youngster Simon Flower was thrown into New Year Monday’s derby against Stourbridge, and bosses Shaun Cunnington and Tony Thorpe say they need a more experienced custodian for their battle to avoid relegation. They hope to complete a signing ahead of tomorrow’s home game against high-flying Windsor & Eton but whether Nesbitt will lead the line is another matter. |
