This was always going to be tough game for the Ravens with Heaton Moor on a mission to replicate their 39-0 result four weeks earlier. The difference between then and now was that a lot of players were unavailable leaving the Ravens with an inexperienced though stoic side.
This time the Ravens had a stronger side, bolstered by the return of the Wizard (Rick Sheldon), after a long injury, Campbell ‘Macduff’ Gregg and 24 hours from Tulsa – John’ Gene’ Pittey, who only plays two games a year.
The forwards dominated throughout the match with back row Dave ‘Seabiscuit’ Hiscutt leading the way and if flanker Jim ‘The Orca’ Senior could catch a rugby ball and fall over the line, the score would have been very different.
The Ravens backs led by number 10 Jason New time and time again led the front line, with Chris McPartland (a forward who has appeared in just about every position for the Ravens) showing the commitment that each Raven shows, by playing on the wing in this game
Tries from New, Pittey and the Gareth ‘The Undertaker’ Tait secured the win for the Ravens in what was a tight game.
The defining moment of the game, came when Heaton Moor were on the Ravens line, pressing for the win, and their No 4, a colossus of a player, who had dominated the short yards all day was given the ball. The game had 10 mins left.
It was a crash ball!
Up stepped HMS Tait and BOOM!!!!
He met him ‘face-to-face’ and pole axed their biggest player, and sent him on his rear! It was like watching a WWF bout in which The Undertaker smacks the John Sena!!!!
Tait was sin binned for playing ‘too roughly’ or something??, an appointment at ‘Specsavers’ was made for the match official, and the Ravens won again!!!
Hoorah! for HMS Tait aka: ‘The Undertaker’
Hoorah! For the Ravens.
