The boys bring the cup home in their first tournament

In their first ever competitive tournament Wilmslow under 7’s brought home the cup after a dramatic 6-5 extra time win in the final over Kirby Lonsdale A.
The 8 boys were magnificent in the group games, winning three and drawing one of their games. They qualified for the cup competition courtesy of scoring 38 tries in the group stages, after tying with Bowden on points scored, try difference and the 8-8 head to head result between the teams.
In the semi-final they defeated Kirby Lonsdale B but were then told that there had been a mistake and they should have played Stockport – who they went on to defeat comfortably for a place in the final.
The final was a real tight, end to end game and the scores were tied at the end of 10 minutes of play. In the 2 minutes of extra time both teams had chances to win the game but it all came down to one try scored right at the end of the match.
The boys celebrated at the final whistle and were both tired and proud of their achievement.
Great job boys and thanks to Ben Ecroyd for coaching the boys, Giles for refereeing on behalf of the club and the parents for your support!!
