Potential changes at Bar End Stadium

Have your Say - please complete the survey

As many of you will have read in the local press, Winchester City Council and the University of Winchester are exploring ideas for the development of a new Leisure Centre at Bar End. Architects and other professional consultants have been engaged by the Council to reach out to the local community and sports clubs to establish what people want.

WHC has been heavily engaged on your behalf and we continue discussions with key stakeholders to consider the design of the new sports hall to be of sufficient size to accommodate an indoor hockey facility; we have also identified an opportunity to build a second Artificial Turf Pitch adjacent to the existing pitch. Both of these facilities would enable us to provide more hockey for a growing and wider community. Clearly the parking situation will need to be addressed because we all know how awkward the Park & Ride can be particularly for people with equipment and away teams visiting Winchester to play league and cup games.

Please make yourself heard by completing the Council's survey at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/winchestersportandleisurepark because the more people who complete the survey the better it is as the sample survey becomes more significant.

Should you require any further details of the project you can see some sample boards on the City Council's website or you can email me and I will try to assist.
