2s steal the points
A great comeback win for the 2s in London
Winchester took the long haul to face HAC in Dulwich and it looked like Jez hadn’t worn his flight socks as the first half was a one way affair with the 2s chasing shadows and going into the half time break 3 nutmegs to nil behind. Andy Winnett used HACs own words against them at half time, we’re still in this, they haven’t scored 3 great goals and we aren’t rubbish! Legs finally awake and the second half had to start fast, leading by example Winnett intercepted a poor cross field pass in the dee, gave the keeper the eye and sent the ball home. Comeback started. Next up a short corner and Rob Gunchild gets back to form with a neatly despatched drag flick which left the keeper rooted. HAC were still reeling when Tom Bolam appeared in the dee picking the ball off a defender and roofing on the reverse from close range. With 15 to go the game was ours to win but HAC weren’t giving in easily. Richard Jones and David Hurrell were called upon to keep the tricky HAC forward at bay, Jez Spicer-Martinez decided now was a good time to get involved with some neat saves. In the last five minutes the 2s went for more, great work from uni boys Matt Stokes and Josh Steel in midfield released Winnett down the wing and along the baseline for a trademark link up with Swift to score from much more than a yard! HAC sent everything forward now but were hit in classic style, Winnett acting quickly smashing a free hit at Swift in the dee to deflect past the keeper once more. Comeback complete.
