The Mighty Wizards v Salisbury
On a concrete pitch covered in puddles on a rainy day with no dug out. Just saying
The mighty Wizards turned up in good time for this one and were eager to warm up as a team but it was raining like hell so they sheltered under the bike sheds! Salisbury however were running around in the rain getting wet until the rain became heavier and even they took cover behind a building. The pitch had puddles on it and seemed to be made out of concrete, there were no dugouts and Rob Churcher and me would rather have tossed a coin and gone to the pub instead. However the game kicked off and the rain seemed to stop for a bit at least.
The mighty Wizards had 12 players and were even resting players for an over 50s game the next day! Hopes were high and for the first 40 mins the scores were level and we had our chances to score! Rob Churcher, our centre back, and Johnny Mac, our centre forward, were linking up time after time with aerials and hard hits but unfortunately the moves didn't end up as goals.
After 40 mins however the wheels started to fall off and soon we were down to 9 fit men on the pitch and Salisbury took advantage of the situation with the final score being 3-0 to them.
Salisbury had a lot of possession and deserved to win but if we had a couple more players rotating we could have possibly kept up our high work levels till the end! Who knows.
Back to their pub, we had 10 Wizards that came back for a drink and then we all went home to watch Strictly and rest up for the match against Trojans in 24 hours time!
