The Mighty Wizards v Trojans
When umpires attack!
And off to Trojans for the over 50s cup, the sun was shining, and once again The Mighty Wizards had 12 players and even had 2 travelling fans! Trojans had 14 players and an arrogant air! Having said that they were pretty friendly and didn't deserve their 3 green cards. Trojans seemed to have time on the ball and were able to hit the ball hard to their players on the move whereas we seemed a bit rushed and marked!
Mr Chase was up in Scotland sourcing a holiday retreat, so the honour of playing in goal for The Mighty Wizards was presented to Paul Bolam, who made save after save.
Having returned from the States, Steve Callister was playing his second game in 24 hours, his last game was 9 months ago in February, not playing on Finals day when the Mighty Wizards won the over 50s cup!
Steve Perkins was alongside Ian Bisson in the middle of the pitch with Griz, just in front, completing the holy trinity, and these 3 ran proceedings for a full 65 minutes until Ian went off with a nasty lump on his leg. That hockey ball was travelling. Johnny Mac was still running at top speed even after yesterday's match and provided a super pass for Charles Whiteaway to score a much needed goal! (not sure Johnny was passing!) The umpires continued to affect the game making decision after curious decision and Trojans managed to flatter themselves by scoring 6 goals.
Mr Langridge led a cool down and 8 men took part! The Mighty Wizards are growing into a team, today we warmed up, played for each other and cooled down together we then had 10 men who went for a shower, a beer and food. I think Johnny and Molly are in trouble this week on Strictly but that's for the judges to decide not me!
No game next week, so our crocks can recover and gear up for the game against Guildford on 25th Nov (kings 3pm after the 2s!)
