Playing a lot better than in their last match, Mere confidently passed the ball around a youthful Bowdon team. This soon brought a penalty corner which was initially saved but only into the path of Tom Dolman
, who fired into goal.
Bowdon responded immediately and that gave Mere the chance to counter attack and win another penalty corner. This time the ball was worked to Tom Dolman
and he deflected the ball past the man on the post.
Pidcock then gave a glimpse of his ability, scoring with a drag flick from a Bowdon penalty corner that was almost saved on the line by Andrew Hartnett
. However, Will Dolman
then drag-flicked a penalty corner at the other end to restore Mere's two-goal advantage, and man of the match Tom Dolman
completed his hat-trick with another deflection goal to make it 4-1 by half-time.
Bowdon's goalkeeper denied Mere for much of the second-half but he could not stop Harry Jackson
's spectacular strike at the end of a typical, weaving run past three Bowdon players.
