Sunday 26th November in Windsor Town Centre

The Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service Santa Dash is fast approaching on Sunday 26th November in Windsor Town Centre. The charity is delighted that players from Windsor Netball Club will be joining them again this year. Community Fundraiser at Alexander Devine, Julia Philipson says “This great fun run in the middle of Windsor is our biggest active fundraiser of the year and we love to have clubs like Windsor Netball Club join us where young people are supporting other young people in our community”

The Windsor Netball Club offers competitive netball to girls from 10 years upwards to help girls acquire skills, values and attitudes which will enhance their development, create aspiration and encourage inclusion generating a lifelong enjoyment of sport and physical activity. Under 13 Coach, Alison Hill says “This is such a lovely opportunity for Windsor Netball Club to get active in our local community, support a great local cause and kick off Christmas. It’ll be my family’s 5th Santa Dash for Alexander Devine, so I can highly recommend it!”

The Santa Dash in Windsor takes in The Long Walk, the Castle, Queen Victoria’s statue and Windsor’s great shopping streets. This great festive 5k fun run starts at 9am and is open to all ages and abilities and every penny raised goes directly towards supporting local children with life limiting and life threatening conditions. Santa suits or reindeer antlers are included in the entry price.

Windsor Netball Club is a progressive active club with a growing membership and is looking for new volunteers to support them and to help provide more opportunities for Berkshire netballers. Note to Editors

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service was founded 10 years ago. Fiona and John Devine from Windsor set up this local charity, named after their son Alexander, who sadly died aged 8 from a rare brain tumour. During the four years that Alexander was ill they realised the desperate need for a local children’s hospice. Fiona and John, who live in Windsor, wanted to improve the care and support for children with life limiting conditions in the area as Berkshire or Buckinghamshire does not have a children’s hospice.
Today Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service funds Alexander’s Nurses, who run a community service in the home providing respite, play therapy, palliative care and end of life care. As well as creating a care team the dream was always to build a local children’s hospice. With the fantastic support of the local community the charity has now realised this dream by building a wonderful dedicated purpose built children’s hospice near Maidenhead on donated land. The hospice will provide a wider range of services to families, offer them greater flexibility, choice, and ongoing respite support

The Windsor Netball Club launched in August 2013 with four squads - U12, U13, U14 and adults.

The Junior teams play in the Berkshire Junior Netball League on Sundays (September - March), with adults playing in Maidenhead and Ascot during the week. Training for all teams takes place on Friday evenings in Windsor Girls School Sports.

Our goal is to provide competitive play for Berkshire netballers at a friendly and supportive club and our MISSION STATEMENT is:

•We believe in the power of competitive netball to help girls acquire skills, values and attitudes which will enhance their development, create aspiration and encourage inclusion.

•We aim to generate a lifelong enjoyment of sport and physical activity placing emphasis on effort, attitude and techniques over outcomes.

•We will work together with all our members to ensure that our club’s reputation is for fair play and good sportsmanship
