Winlaton were the lucky recipient of £4,000.00 from the Community Foundation Tyne and Wear who awarded the money on behalf of the Gateshead Housing Company Community Fund, UK Land Estates Fund and Akzo Nobel International Paints.
This grant given by UK Land Estates Fund and Akzo Nobel International Paints was used to provide a sorely needed storage container for the ground maintenance equipment as well as a lawn mower and a trailer. The grant by the Gateshead Housing Company Community Fund provided funds to purchase a line marker, post protectors and tables and fencing to furnish a refreshment area to provide for spectators and Club Members.

Chairman Colin Hurst spoke for all the club members when asked to comment " all voluntary organisations rely heavily on support from outside and we will be eternally grateful for the ongoing support that the council and local business continues to give to Winlaton Vulcans and the local community" adding " the money required to make these purchases would not have been available without the help of the community fund"
