The weather had threatened to spoil this much anticipated fixture but the rain stopped and the pitch was in good condition The previous encounter last season had resulted in an easy victory for Lymm and Park felt that they should have performed better.

Park started well sticking to the game plan and contained Lymm in there own half for the first ten minutes. Quality teams have quality defences and Lymm refused to let Park score. After 15mins Lymm had worked their way towards the Park line and scored a good try. Several minutes later Lymm scored a second Try and as Park lost some structure and organisation Lymm scored twice more giving them a comfortable half time lead.

24 – 0

The second Half was a much closer affair as Park got back to basics and Lymm rang the changes to use their full squad. Park got close to the Lymm line and from a tap penalty Man of the Match Callum McMaster was driven over for a good try. Lymm scored a very good try late in the half as their centre ran through some tired Park tackling.

The Park boys learned much from this game and should be proud of the performance playing some of their best rugby this season in parts, with strong running for Kieran Evans, Jack Milne and Will Boyle. There was some excellent kicking early on from Dan Eastwood and a solid performance from all the forwards.

Park showed that at their best they can be a very competitive team.

Thanks to Lymm for their hospitality and the boys tell me the chilli was very good!
