So close - yet again!!

This was going to be a tough game for the home side with Altrincham having won all their matches to date sitting top of the league.
The first five minutes was at a fast pace. James Johnson was replaced after a blood injury to his head bringing on in form Jimmy Moran.
Within the first ten minutes Altrincham were on the score sheet with a try after sustained pressure on the try line. The kick was converted.
Park replied with a penalty kick from Cameron Flanagan after AK player was judged to have been going over the ruck without staying on his feet.
Park were within minutes given a further penalty for similar offence and Cameron Flanagan put three further points on the score.
Coach Farr, brought back on James Johnson for Matt Cross at scrum half.
Park began to take control of the game but unfortunately the game was stopped for over 15 minutes with a AK player having a neck injury.
Once play commenced AK to control and scored a try just before the half time whistle with a missed tackle from Park allowing AK in at the corner. The kick was missed.
Park finished the half 6 to 12 down but looked promising in the first half.
Park could have narrowed the score but a penalty kick was missed. Both sides defence was strong and unfortunately for Park 30 minutes into the second half prop forward Shaun Underdown was judged to have tackled high with intent and was shown the red card. This was a tough call by the official but it rallied the home side.
Gary Dykes was replaced by Chris Healds to go in the front row for Underdown.
Park were awarded a penalty taken quickly by Alex Glendining after a fantastic run to the line the ball was passed out down the line to Chris Sheppard to score. The kick was converted by Cameron Flanagan.
Within minutes Park were awarded a penalty with a tackle on Jack Williams off the ball but the kick hit the post and bounced back out.
Alex Glendining was replaced after injuring his ankle in his quick tap penalty by Gary Dykes.
Park continued the pressure which resulted in some great play passing the ball down the line for Chris Twigg to score in the corner. The conversion was missed.
The last five minutes was very tense but unfortunately the pressure of being a player down showed and AK were parked on the Park line. Prop Mike Eaves was injured so the scrum went uncontested the ball was put in by AK passed out for them to score a try just off from the posts. The crowd was tense as the AK kicker slotted the ball over to go one point ahead. The whistle was blown with Park losing 18 to 19.
Coach Farr said, This was a good game to watch and we played well in parts and it was a pity we had a player sent off as we were competing well against a strong side. The lads should give themselves credit they took the game to Altrincham and being a player down we raised our game.” This performance showed we can compete with the top sides in this league and a lot of the games are going to be close”
