u15s Cheshire Cup 1/4 final: WPRFC 0-15 Chester
In very blustery and cold conditions, a Chester team that again and again regained possession prevailed.
Park started well with immediate attack and ground gained. Chester, managing to absorb the pressure well and then went ahead through a quick counter attack after about ten minutes. Another Chester try on the wing sealed the first half.
The second half was punctuated by constantly changing possession. Play consistently stayed towards the middle of the field, except for the odd break through into an opponent's 22. Chester ended up scoring another try.
WPRFC was aggressive and forward-driving, but allowed itself to be pushed off the ball too many times. Constant play in the middle, running into rucks again and again didn't open up space or rattle the opposition.
A lot of heart, commitment and effort today. Nobody gave up, ever. That much was evident. There were many good tackles, including three try saving tackles from Elliott and more critical saves from many others.
It was a game of back and forth, in which a try would have been a good reward for graft and stick-at-itness.
At least the team is still in the semi-final of the bowl, so there's still a a lot to play for.
