Great strong performance & chemistry

The morning rugby at Crewe and Nantwich was played in a very positive way, implementing some of the positive outcomes from the Sandbach Cluster festival the week before, by providing the players with the responsibility of making their own decisions during

The first game was the toughest of the morning and C&N were very well disciplined and were strong in defence. WP had to be patient and the first opportunity presented itself from the first scrum of the half. WP won the ball and from a china ball Alvaro at close quarters powered over the line to score the first try of the day. Millsy was working very hard in the rucks all morning and became a thorn in the side for C& N, after stealing the ball in a ruck there was some excellent passing down the back line, players running onto the ball at pace. JJ Mc found himself in space to score the next try. Then with only five minutes of the game left, Liam caught a very high kick and then began to attack the opposition, he didn’t need any support from WP as C&N were dropping off in the tackle, a great solo effort and try number three was scored. Win 3/0

The second and final game burst into action with Harrison from a very kick off high ball did an excellent catch . Harrison with determination to score a similar try to Liam’s, bolted out of the blocks and within a flash had pretty much run the full length of the pitch and scoring another excellent try. Then from a scrum and the second move called a pop pass to Liam who spotted a gap in the line and powered through to score. Within a short space of time our defence was proving too strong for C& N and as a result of the continued pressure, a lose pass was made which Harvey Rich pounced upon - try number four scored. Then just before half time a galloping run with fend off by Alvaro, pop pass to Archie, ball in one hand managed to run the outside line and beat the defender to score in the corner. Then Alvaro on another strong run with excellent support play by the whole team scored. Win 6/0

After team talk and the reminder of not conceding a try what happened next… Yes we conceded our first and only try of the morning. C & N deserved this try as they were all working extremely hard.
At this stage in proceedings the match notes were handed to Richard who did nothing then handed to Max as Sandy needed the loo! who unfortunately had taken a knock to the head in the first game. With his very neat and tidy writing this is what Max wrote ‘running straight with the ball, great offload by Tom, running straight and passing down the line, rukking, pop tart, good defence and china ball, china ball and Joe Bland scores, Millsy good offload, Álvaro good straight running, 22 drop out great catch by Archie and good try, and finally a comment from Rich Timpson ‘team has good chemistry’…

Well done Max for your take on the report during which a further six tries were scored 6/1 win.

There were many strong performances during the morning from players not mentioned in this short report but Harrison was dominant throughout and deserved MoM award – so well done.
