A brilliant team effort to finish 2018 on a high

Very pleasing performance and great result.

Finally the sun came out on a bright December morning.

The first 15 minutes we played with intensity and purpose, our rucking was very strong and competitive. We were moving and passing the ball very well and finding the much needed to space. Tresor was the first to go close but good defence by Caldy and he was held up on the try line. Then power ball called from the next scrum, leaving the forwards in the backs, a good hook from Lucas in the scrum, Will to Joe, Jacko to Archie and a pop ball to Alvaro to bulldoze through to score the first try.
Caldy then came into the game but our counter rucking was strong and we managed to turn the ball over, kick and chase by Joe and we won the ball back, a quick ruck and good passing down the line offload to Harvey R on the wing stepped inside, was tackled but a lovely pop in contact and Lucas powered over to score try number two. Just before last play Joe was being alike a tackling machine again and JJ Mc took down a player just at the right time and we managed not to concede in this game. It was a great start with structure but we did get lazy after 5 minutes but our rucking was fantastic. We just needed some players not to be greedy to try and score and remember to tackle round the legs!

In Game 2 we made some changes however this week Timson couldn’t count I think it was the 6 pints of Ale and the banoffie pie he had the night before but he wasn't thinking or counting properly, WP had thirteen players on the field OMG!!! lol Caldy's defence continued to be strong and they had more possession of the ball, but a brilliant charge forward by Tom and offload but sadly lost it! Then through missing our one up tackles Caldy scored their first try. They received the KO and were running strong and were offloading in the tackle, then a chip and pass, Liam then made his first try saving tackle, but Caldy were quick to react to score try number two. We were then 2/2 draw. They almost scored again if it wasnt for Liam doing an almighty tackle which caused him a painful shoulder Then WP fell asleep and didn't react quick enough try number three conceded and now suddenly they were winning!

Game 3 - we were back in the game the forwards were dominating. Hard work by Tom, Millsy, Donnie both with or without the ball, tiring the opposition, then a quick ball out wide for Harvey R to score try 3. The tries then came thick and fast for us. Lucas always there to punish the opposition defence with his angles of running. Our ball retention was excellent. Alvaro scored next, followed by a superb strong run by Tom, excellent support play by Thomas Johnson and Will calling the shots try number five scored (by Tom). Then a KO caught by Max, tiger ball called ruck won, Lucas found the space, pass to Joe with a chip and chase, Caldy caught the ball then of their own try line, they tried to kick the ball away, but Joe Superman Rowland flew through the air to charge the kick down he was the first to react to score try number 6.

Game 4: A long KO by Archie deep into the Caldy half, Joe Bland, JJ M, JJ P, Thomas Johnson chased the ball down and Caldy were immediately under pressure 5 meters out from their try line. Turn over ball but Tom or Millsy couldn’t score as they were both held up. Then quick ball out wide, Joe with his customary dummy to score no 7. Followed by another try no 8 ( not sure who scored that if you can let me know ) Then Alvaro scored try number 9. We made some team changes in the final few minutes ( so everyone was getting as much game time as possible ) so in the final part of the game Caldy scored their 4th try, but the game wasnt over and we finished the game off through excellent team effort the ball went through the majority of the players hands and Alvaro popped up to score the final try of the morning - no 10!

A brilliant team effort to finish 2018 on a high so well done.

A special mention to Reggie Ager who was visiting home from Australia, he played his part this morning with some good strong running and good first up tackles made. It was a pleasure for Reggie to play in the U12s team and you all made him feel part of the team.

The MoM was Lucas as he made a great effort both in attack and defence with a super work ethic as he never gave up. In addition to his trophy he was presented with a Manly Roos baseball cap by Reggie which was a lovely gesture.

Tries - Joe 2, Alvaro 4, Harvey R 1, Lucas 1, Tom 1 & 1 ?
