A great new year win!

Great first game back after Xmas break but our laziness in tackles and little mistakes let us down.

Great to be back after the Christmas break but some we heard had troubles getting out of bed but after a extra long training session by Rich, the team were up for it.

Game 1: We got off to a great defensive start by taking the game to them which was what had been asked of the team by the coach and it paid off by Alvaro scoring within the first minute. Joe then followed by finding space to score no. 2 . JJP made a strong tackle to prevent WP from moving forward. The team played the China ball to Jacko to score no 3. Then JJP did a great run forward to make headway but was then taken down by a high tackle and we were keeping the pressure up. A kick by Joe but unfortunately bounced the wrong way so WP ball. We played down the line and letting the ball do the work was great to see to Liam to score and we were 4/0 up. WP had a team talk to stop the game and then when whistle went to commence we somehow let our guard down and WP broke through to score. Suddenly we were not tackling and West Park whatever was said in that team talk were back in the game and scored try no.2 . Final score 4/2.
We got off to a great start and perhaps lazy when 4-0 up as we were not making the one up tackles and let WP back in the game. We needed to get the rucks on track and get round the legs but we did defend well at start.

Game 2; West Park were warmed up now and with an interception managed to charge through to score first. We needed to get on top of this game now as WP right on us. A high tackle by WP and our ball so Will quickly took the penalty and a pass to Joe who made a running man surge over the line to score to level. Now it felt we were getting back together with passing down the line despite great defence by WP Lucas then scored and we were 2/1 up. A lovely off load by Alvaro before being pushed out of touch to JJMc who then took a big hit! He shook himself off and continued. Joe then scored try 3 via help from Millsey, Tom and Alvaro. A great play and attack by JJMc who then passed ball to Thomas J to score. Archie then had his turn with a strong run to gain some ground but then taken down. What a much better game and the last 20 minutes was fantastic . Final score totalled 9/3. We just needed to be reminded to set up in a line.

Game 3: In this game at last a kick nudge for Joe worked & bounced nicely to Liam who took the ball to score try no 10. A forward pass by WP and it was our ball. Liam got the ball and made a brilliant run towards our try line but was pushed to touch, Millsey was being brilliant in rucking. After a WP scrum we got the ball and Alvaro took it over the line to score no 11. WP were not giving up and managed to break through to score. We needed to switch on again as we had dropped off. Tom powered through and a good ruck by Millsey with a twirl and over the line he went to score no 12. At this stage we were not tackling again and getting content maybe but then Joe BM had an opportunity and finding space scored our last try of the day no 13! Archie then tried a cheeky nudge which worked well but with a few missed tackles WP found space to finish the game at 13/7. Shame our last 5 minutes of this game we were all over the place which allowed WP to score 3 tries by not making our one up tackles but overall a fantastic performance and all the coaches happy with everyone performance as everyone gave their all.

Especially Thomas J who was strong in the tackles and made a difference in our attack all morning - so he deserved to be MOM.
