1. History 1

The club was formed in 1963, however it was not until 1974 that a clubhouse was finally built. Until 1974 the “clubhouse” was located in one of the bars of the White Hart hotel, this led to the club’s nickname of “The Stags” and the antlers on the club logo. This has also been adopted as the name of our charity Veterans side. The Club has had many successes including winning the Eastern Counties Division 4 South League title.

We are currently running 2 competitive sides; the 1st XV are competing in the Shepherd Neame Essex Merit Table Division 4, while the 2nd XV are inDivision 6 East. As with all sports, excellence is only achieved through practice, training and competition. Competition not only against other sides but also for places within the teams. This is why Witham Rugby Club lives by the motto “Never Enough” and is constantly looking to recruit players of all abilities to maintain our competitive desire and continue our upward progression through the league structure.
