Hard work pays off at last
A great 53-22 win is just reward for the work this team have been putting in this season.
It has been a difficult season for Witham, but the team were determined to use home advantage to move off the bottom of the table. Early on, the home team showed dominance as they ran their moves. Early tries by darryl chesson
, Charlie Gibson
and Jake Westwood
established a comfortable lead. Burnham did hit back and their first try showed that they had the power to break through if the defence slipped. But Witham were dominating open play. Further tries by Chesson and Darryl Warnaar
gave Witham a 29- 7 lead at half time. The second half saw Charlie Gibson
score another 2 tries as the lead grew. The home side then relaxed a little and this allowed the visitors to add to their tally and actually enjoy a spell of real pressure. As the game came to a close, Westwood scored his second of the game and a debut try for Pat Saguy sealed a long overdue win for a hard working team.
