Reserve team Manager Jason and his Assistant Adam bring you their thoughts on what has been a successful season for the Reserves.

One minute we were celebrating and the next there was stunned silence and no matter how much people try to deflect the negatives of relegation away from the reserve team the fact is that we have been one squad for the majority of the season (we tend to train together and most players have represented the reserve team at some point in the past 10 months).. In that same vein any success that the reserve team get can also be shared although we would much rather it be the other way round (stay up and not get promoted) we cannot hide the fact that it has been a positive result for the club that hasn't been seen for some time.

That said despite how unlucky we may have been we can’t change what's happened and as a group we have enough to feel positive about going forward. I don’t have an in depth knowledge of the clubs previous performances and league positions but I do feel that we currently have a group that are good enough to propel themselves back up to the premier division and also a reserve team that can do themselves justice and show that the step up is where we should be competing.

There are many people who deserve thanks and that includes the many supporters of the club who have been simply mind blowing in their efforts to give the boys their backing, one of my aims for next season is to try to get a few more faces at reserve team games (assuming they're not going to see the first team of course) and create a closer association between players and supporters.

The players whose efforts when representing the reserve team has generally been exemplary and they deserve the credit for our achievements, those faces behind the scenes such as Lorraine, Janet and David who's assistance on match days is fantastic, my assistant Adam who managed to talk me into applying for the role in the first place and also Bernie Frost the two of whom do so much running around it makes my role fairly simple.

I'd also like to extend my thanks to Mo, Kev and Ian who have made me feel so welcome and a part of the club since I came. Their knowledge has been invaluable and their efforts immense.

Together I am confident we can turn the recent misfortunes around in future.

Just echoing words in that, firstly we are gutted about the first teams relegation as a club we are relegated not just the first team. But as that is the case as a club we have won promotion to the reserve premier division and along the way beaten Stanway and Chell Trophy finalists Brightlingsea in the chell trophy at their own venues, who both are in for finishing in the top half of the premier division.

Next season will be a challenge but I look forward to creating a little more history in the form of winning something in the near future to give those people who it means so much to a chance to celebrate in that.

Thanks
Adam
