Hertford town ladies Vs Ipswich Wanderes
First Home League Game of the Season
Hertford town ladies V Ipswich Wanderes
F-T 1-1 ( H-T 0-1)
Olivia Worsfold (75)
For the 3rd game in succession we took a full strength squad of 16 to a game - this match was our first home game of the season.
After a good week in training, we went into this game confident in getting a result.
for the first 30 to 40 minutes of the game we dominated possession, challenges and attempts on goal, but just couldn't find the back of the net.
towards the end of the first half, Ipswich won a free kick in our half and caught us sleeping at the back and scored. After the goal, Ipswich started to find their feet in the game and we found ourselves under some pressure. After 5 minutes of pressure from Ipswich, the half time whistle went.
The second half continued in much the same way, with us dominating possession and putting pressure on the Ipswich Goal. After 3 or 4 attempts narrowly going wide, the ball finally fell into a great position where Olivia Worsfold managed to bury the ball into the Ipswich net to make it 1-1. After the equaliser, we were on the front foot until the end of the game but were unable to find a winner, so the points where shared.
Manager Dan Barley said " we are still a relatively new team, so players are still getting used the new system of how we want them to play. This was one of the best team performances I've seen since taking over the team, but there is still room for improvement. There are lots of positives to take away from today's game and it's down to us to build on these positives for next week's game."
