Pre-season finishes with a victory in 'unofficial club friendly'.

For the 2nd time this pre-season we were let down by our opposition and with no other clubs willing to play we were thankful to Zammo & Trigg for getting a team together to play us. It was more than a worthy run out.

Squad:

Gilo, Jay, Albi, Baulds, Chaz, Coxy, Frosty, Grouty, Joe, Luca, Ash, Ads

With no goalkeeper available Gilo went in goal. It is fair to say that there is no chance the opening goal would have happened if Ryan was between the sticks.

We equalised from a well delivered corner by Joey that Ash headed clinically past the keeper.

It was 1-2 at half-time as we got caught in behind down our left and Zammo cut across for their pacey left winger who saw his first attempt cleared off the line, but Baulds clearance unfortunately went straight back to him and he tucked it home.

Despite some very good chances we were behind at the interval.

Straight from the 2nd half kick off we worked the ball back to Gilo in goal and started an attack from there and after most players had a touch of the ball Frosty exchanged passes with Luca before curling a low effort into the bottom right corner to make it 2-2.

Then Joe was wiped out in the area by a clumsy challenge, but our record scorer hit the resulting spot kick over.

A few minutes later we were behind again after Zammo feasted upon a defensive mishap and finished well into the corner.

Ash thumped home to make it 3-3 when some cute work from Luca got him in behind and Luca then got us in front from the spot after he had won our 2nd penalty of the morning.

Some strong closing down in the latter stages down our left saw the ball fall to Ash and he beat his man before sending a rasping low strike past the keeper to round off the scoring.

It was an important run out for us ahead of the first league game next Sunday and there were some real positives to take from it. Our finishing, until the end of the game anyway, was again pretty wayward, but hopefully we are saving that up for the competitive stuff.

Huge thanks to Trigg and Zammo for getting us this game on, to Oli for managing and walking the line and to those who ran the line aswell.

Next week it all begins again at Bisley AS. Bring it on.
