Wolverhampton RUFC

Wolverhampton took part in their first ever 7’s tournament at the West Country 7’s at the weekend and ended up Runners up to a very good Clifton Side.
Considering that this was their first venture into the seven a-side game the performance from the squad was exceptional. Wolverhampton had comfortable wins against Keynsham, Frome and Avon in the group stages and then beat Keynsham again in the semi-final .
In the final Wolverhampton were caught cold and soon went 2 tries down to Clifton. It would have been easy for the boys to capitulate but the boys in red and black are made of stronger stuff. They fought back to take a narrow lead into the second half 3 tries to 2.
In the second half Wolverhampton fought valiantly but the day’s activities and injuries finally caught up with them and Clifton used their superior pace on the flanks to score 3 further tries in the second half.
A special mention to Joeb who made his debut for Wolverhampton. Well done Joeb
It was a fantastic day and we played some fantastic rugby. And the boys did us proud.
