Following on from the £64,000 investment in new floodlighting earlier in the year, the club also agreed that the newly floodlit pitch should also have the drainage improved to prevent the build up of surface water and games being cancelled.
The top soil in this area is not very deep and under this is a thick layer of clay. This prevents water draining away in very wet times and draws water out of the soil in very dry times. This investment is a one time investment and will give the club some very good training and playing surfaces.
In discussions with the RFU, the club has secured around £50,000 in funding to install new lands drains and top dressing to not only the newly floodlit pitch but the corner full sized pitch and the training area. The total project cost is close to £100,000 on a matched funded basis and works will commence very soon.
These improved facilities will prevent the cancellation of games and allow further use by local schools and the school of rugby.
I hope you will all agree that this is a great time to be a member of Wolverhampton and we ask you for your support in raising funds directly for the club or in attending functions amd match days regurlarly. (There are dirtier jobs!)
