Wolverhampton Colts win Staffs to make it four trophies for the cabinet this season:
The last time Wolves' name had graced the Staffs Colts trophy was in 2000 and, having knocked Burton out of the Nat Colts Cup, stern opposition was expected.
Wolves dominated at the start, with an excellent "catch and drive" move off a line out. Hooker Tom Chard went over to secure the 5 points, the conversion failed.
Wolves continued to press forward with good recycling of the ball which resulted in a penalty just outside their 22. The penalty was converted to make the score 8—0.
Shortly afterwards, Burton again came offside at the ruck on the halfway line, but compounded their error by disputing with the referee, which brought the penalty onto the Burton 10m line and within the range,11—0.
Burton then rallied, having a period of better possession just before the in-terval and they were awarded a penalty They duly took the 3 points in front of the posts to make it 3 - 11 at half time.
Wolverhampton started the second half strongly stopping most of the Burton attempts to break out of their half. Then a smart move got the ball to Smith who sprinted through the centre to score under the posts, the conversion made the score 18—3.
Defences were on top for the final quarter of the game and no more points were scored with the final result 18—3.
