We manage to get the 2s skipper sat down and ask a few quesitons

After an indifferent start to 2nd XI have won 5 one the bounce and are in the Billy Oates Cup Final this Sunday. We caught up with Skipper Craig Bond to ask him about the Cup Final and all manor of things.

Hi Craig, are you looking forward to the cup final?
‘Yeah I am, it has been a while since the club has been in a final so I’m really looking forward to it. We’ve got to a couple of semi’s in recent seasons but never the showpiece’

You’ve not scored a 50 this season, are you saving yourself for the big game?
‘I thought I’d give youth a chance I’ve scored my runs over the years the stats back it up so I’m happy watching the young guns of the team score runs’

What is your predication for the final?
‘I think we will win, I can’t really say anything else. We know that is it going to be a tough game but I’m sure if we perform like we can we’ll come back on the bus with the trophy’

How has this year been as captain?
‘Well I didn’t think I would be but due to unforeseen circumstances I had to take the mantel on again. It has been difficult at times especially early on in the season but we seem to be hitting our straps now which is always a good thing, even more so when a cup final is round the corner’

Looking at recent video footage you’ve not had a very safe pair of hands this season.
After I bruised my finger against Adwick-le-Street least season I’m a bit scared of the ball so I don’t really want the ball hit to me. I’ve emailed SYCL committee members and asked if we could play with a wind ball or a tennis ball to make the game safer’

There is rumours that you’ve bought a family pass to Lego Land to replace your annual pass at The Deep, is this true?
I thought I’d managed to keep this quiet but clearly not, yes I have bought a family pass you never know when it will be needed. I love building space ships and pirate boats, I play upstairs with my Lego for hours. Our lass thinks I have a problem.

Last question from us, who is your celebrity crush?
Since the Great British Bake off has been on TV Mary Berry has a twinkle in her eye that I just can’t resist. I’d love to fold in some Jam Roly Poly mix with her!’

As usual we’ve got a few questions from out twitter followers

@Woodsiewindup asks – any chance of you catching one in final craigy?
I’m going to field where the ball goes least so probably not

@chocice asks – How many times have you been involved in an altercation during your cricketing career?
I’ve had a couple of doos in my time. This one game I had a chelp and later found out he was a belt belt kickboxer, I papped myself and offered to pay for his tea so he wouldn’t knock me out.

@Jackiesmithy – Craig I’m working Thursday, just to let you know.

Thanks for coming in Craig always appreciated giving up your time away from building the Lego millennium falcon. Good luck for the weekend.
