Christmas, Cricket and Crying

It’s been a pretty good couple of years for the 2nd Team which has been lead by Craig Bond. We have an exclusive interview with Craig about his team’s chances in the coming season, all things cricket and reader questions.

Hi Craig, have you had a good Christmas and New Year break and ready for nets the start later on this month?
‘Yeah it’s been a pretty decent one, I drank and ate my way through the holidays so it’s nice to be looking forward to getting back netting’

Is it true that you still go on about your maiden 50 last season?
‘Well let’s be honest it was the best knock of the season by anyone in our team. I if you go back and look at the tape you’ll see every shot in the book. I mean take Sewell’s 50, it was filth it was like watching someone in the BBL but mine was one of real class. Hopefully more to come this season’

Are you looking forward to playing in the SYCL?
‘Yeah I’m looking forward to taking my team to new grounds and new umpires but more importantly abusing more players’

How do you think you will do in the new league?
‘I see no teams in there that scare me. We will come up against better opposition that we have played in the past couple of years but I firmly believe that we have the players to step up and be more than competitive’

You’ve got a reputation for being a billy big bollocks on the field how does this affect your performance, or does it help?
‘I think my aggressive side does help me on the field in most games. I will literally pick a fight with anyone on a cricket pitch, even those who are black belt in karate. If teams don’t like it that’s not my problem, I play to win!’

There have been rumours of civil unrest between you and Mike Crossland over non payment of presentation night tickets, is this true?
‘Me and Mr Crossland have very rarely seen eye to eye of the years. We did order enough tickets for people who wanted to come but due to unforeseen circumstances some of the players couldn’t turn up on the night and therefore couldn’t pay (EG Crazy having to count up the car boot raffle tickets for work). I paid for how many turned up on the night and Mr Crossland has taken exception to this, which I can understand. I’ve sorted out a repayment plan with the Pontefract League and consider the matter closed'

It is true that you’ve cancelled your season pass at the deep?
‘Well it was a very emotional day when I signed the cancellation form, I even shed a tear or two. I just felt that it wasn’t working out with the deep. They have agreed to keep one of the fish named after me, in honour of my services. I’ve also become recently single again, so I need to find another place to snake’
How do you rate England’s chances in the upcoming world up in Aus and NZ?
‘Fucking wank!’

We put out in earlier addiotions that readers could tweet us questions they wanted to ask. Here are a few of the readers’ questions.

Anttheteacher99 asks. When are you going to buy me the pint you owe me?
‘I don’t owe anyone anything, I bought him a pint of shandy as that’s all he can handle’

Leftarmrapid asks. When are you going to pay up for losing the batting bet a few seasons ago?
‘I know who this is, I’ve haven’t paid up as it was an unfair season I was in Egypt for 4 games riding camels whilst Woodhead scored runs. We agreed double or quits the season after which he also won so we are on double or quits again for the upcoming season’

Mrmechanic asks. Am I going to open batting and bowling and field at slip or gully?
‘Well after a full season of sulking it looks like I will have to bowl him at some point throughout the season. In terms of fielding gully I’m not sure, he tends to day dream and count daisies. I think a season at square leg will be enough’

Lastly manonfire asks. Bondy why are you wank?
‘Everyone has their opinion’

Thanks for coming in Craig always a pleasure seeing your fringe, good luck for the season.
