Wombwell 2nd XI affected by a shortage of players and nil direction with captain Bond soaking up the sun in Egypt looked dis-jointed and direction-less against top of the table challengers Rothwell.
Regardless of a superb steady start with opening bowlers Mark Brampton and the ever youthful Ian "Kenny" Emson giving Wombwell a dream start at the quaint but small Rothwell ground. At drinks after half way Rothwell had less than 60 runs but the introduction of an expensive Craig Parry
and the stand in capatin Martin Pickering
being smashed to all parts it all turned in an instant. Pickering (Crazy Legs) was more crazy with his bowling choices leaving the in form Corey Wyatt
at 14 till the last ten overs when it was a slog fest. An admiral 18 for 1 by the young'n was testement to his ability but Crazy's field setting was genuinley bizarre .
Emson and Brampton were truly on fire and should have been left to bowl throughh and when Parry went for 30 off three maybe it was time for a rest.
Batting was simply pedestrian and the only player with any intent was people's favourite Martin Rigby with an assurred 32. Elliott Mann and Anthony White
looked good with some express running between the wickets helped by the fielding of four pensioners and two fielders making Andy Fordham look anorexic! Ant with 37, batting out for points and another 25 for Elliott gave the Wombwell some pride but at what cost. Wombwell a have a reputation for carrying their heart on there sleeve, today they gave up without a fight against a pitiful looking team.
Come on Mainers, we've got these useless jokers in the cup, me thinks a captain thinking how to win and not how to please his mates may help!
