After some quick research, I found "Pitchero" - a website authoring system designed specifically for sports teams. Other users of Pitchero you may know are Broughton Rugby, Morton CC and The Eccentric Flamingoes.
It's really easy to setup as no "Web Authoring" knowledge is required, and over a couple of evenings, I've completed the initial setup and the site is now more or less ready to go.
The new website will allow others to maintain it and not just me. You will be able to add photos, video and update fixtures and results (selected people only). Comments can also be added. The content can be shared with other pitchero users as well as the usual social networks Facebook and Twitter.
One of the advantages of the site is the self-creating statistics, which automatically calculates averages for bowling/batting after each result is posted.
I've added links to Facebook and our Flickr page on the main page, and uploaded club related documents too so that all the relevant information can be found in one place.
If you register with the site, then you well get updates and we can get things started. You can also note your availability for each game to allow us to know the. There are also events (not games) so we can plan the social side of the club where you can register your attendance, (e.g. AGM, Dinners etc), and the usual forum for some club chat
As well as myself, I've added The Cat as site admin as he has been involved with Pitchero at Broughton Rugby. Others can be added once people are registered.
I've posted the result of the New Year game v the Eccentric Flamingoes so you can see some of the features in action, the match report, completed scoresheet and self-calculating player statistics.
The fixture list will be completed over the next few weeks so take a look and if you have any feedback or questions, then give me a shout.
