Woodford took a mixed side to the festival where they enjoyed several close games but frustratingly were on the wrong side of the results.
In the first game Woodford started strongly and were pushing up the field with good work at the scrums. Brightlingsea came back and the full back cut through the Woodford defence to score. Woodford responded well and were soon pressurising the try line. The forwards picked and drove before letting Tom Mead
feed Alex Marks
, on to Will Cain
and Arun Vaid pops up to drive over and level the scores. Woodford keep the pressure on and defend well as the scores remain tied.
At the start of the second half a momentary lapse from the kick off gave Brightlingsea the opportunity to pounce on the ball and run through to score. Woodford upped their game and pinned Brightlinsea in their own half. Replacement prop Robert Yiannakou
drove from a line out but was taken in to touch in the act of scoring. Several other Woodford attacks failed at the last moment as Brightlingsea held on to win.
