Woodford U11’s players represented Waltham Forest and won silver at this year’s London Youth Games in Year 5 and 6 Rugby 7’s tournament. The squad included Four current under 11 players: Albert Goodwin, Oliver Fitzgerald, Finnlay Bannister and Callum Giddens alongside other players from Handsworth Primary School. The team were brought together coached by Chris Giddens (Under 11’s Head Coach) and Adam Goodwin who is also a Woodford RFC member.

The Team qualified as Waltham Forest champions having seen off competition from within the Borough several weeks earlier. An impressive start saw the boys qualify from their group into the top half of the Borough draw. The next Group saw the boys come our out on Top, winning 3 out of 3 and playing a final group for the top 4 places. Wins against a tough Richmond Team (2 tries to 1) and a comfortable result against Bromley was enough, despite the narrow defeat to Hounslow (eventual winners), to secure Silver.

The results demonstrates the strength we are developing within the Under 11’s and boys can be very proud of their achievement.
