I guess after a 10-2 defeat there isn't much we could say or feel like saying to compile a match report.
I'm sure it is often said if that went in or if that didn't happen then the result would have been different.
Well here's the truth we were beaten by the better side, the best side we have played and a side I hope goes on to win the League.
However, in this match again testament to our improvement we should have had 5/6 goals in the first half but again we suffered from some very poor finishing. Instead half time we were down 5-2.
Can one man make a team? Messi does, Ronaldo does... Now St Michaels don't have anyone like those two. BUT they have a lad who plays wide right, predominately right footed & not a danger in the air. The player is Griffo who scored 7 in this match. I later found out he scored 7 the week before in an 8-1 victory & now has 58 goals in League games alone! Was he the difference absolutely and I'm not being biased when I say we would have won this match if Griffo didn't play. St Michaels didn't pose a threat without Griffo. To be fair to Griffo he doesn't just score, he creates and works up & down the line. He's a good example to anyone & he's content to play with his mates when he clearly can play Leagues higher.
So not exactly a match report... However not a match to be ashamed of playing in. One player stopped us winning this match and he deserved a Guard of Honour at the end.
If we can play the way we did in the first half and not only create the chances but finish them, then we can and will beat any side without Griffo in.....
