The short trip to culcheth provided the venue for the U6 and U5 cubs first competitive game in what only can only be described as monsoon conditions. The game marked a number of firsts for the woolston cubs, Their first competitive game, the first competitive tries scored and the first time rugby league has been played with a bubble coat under the shirt.
Both Woolston and culcheth started in an enthusiastic fashion with imediate end to end tries as both teams played with the attacking qualities of the Melbourne storm and the defensive qualities of Widnes vikings.
Even though the kids doubled their weight as they soaked up the rain their enthusiasm was great to see and with 33 tries scored between the two matches there was plenty for the parents to enjoy, and to many for the coaches to note for the report. The progress the kids have made was plain to see as they ran with confidence and showed great skill and ability ( and finally realised that the cones along the side are there for a reason). M.O.M for each team was very difficult as all players were excellent. Parents M.O.M for U6 game was Ben Harrison and for the U5 was Ashton Lewis, well done guys
Congratulations to lads and Girls from both teams.
We do plan on having further games, when the Kits finally dry out, as it gives the coaches a good idea on progress and more important the kids enjoy the games. Back to training Wednesday
