WOOLSTON ROVERS v BEVERLEY HALTON FARNWORTH HORNETS ‘A’ v WOOLSTON ROVERS ‘A’

Woolston Rovers will be looking to continue their good start to the 2018 Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Three season when they entertain league newcomers Beverley on Saturday afternoon. Kick off is 2.30pm at the Sadore Construction Field, Monks Sports Club.

Rovers, who had a hard earned 10-10 draw at Eastmoor Dragons last weekend, will want to ensure that their home ground becomes a fortress as they look to gain automatic promotion from Division Three this season.

Head Coach John Fieldhouse said, “We don’t know too much about Beverley as they have only played one game so far and that was a 30-0 home win over Barrow Island so we will be giving them the respect they deserve. This will be their first away game since re-joining the NCL so they will be keen to put on a good display; we must ensure that we are fully switched on and ready to give our all for the full eighty minutes. We should have a few more bodies back to strengthen our side and I will be confident that whoever goes out onto the field will produce the goods and get us the right result.”

Rovers ‘A’ travel to Halton Farnworth Hornets ‘A’ in the NWML Division Three hoping to build on the excellent win last week over Crosfields ‘A’ that got their season off to a positive start.

Coach Andy Penny said, “We are looking to improve each week and if we are able to do that then we will continue to get the results we deserve. Farnworth have moved up two divisions this year so they must have confidence in their ability to do that. We played then at the beginning of last season in the NWML Shield and managed to gain a narrow win so I have no doubt that this game will be equally as tight and it will come down to who can control the game the best. We have some real quality in our ranks and the team ethic that we have installed over the past 12 months is really serving us well.”
