Woolston Rovers have a mouth-watering evening fixture on Thursday when they entertain Blackbrook in the Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Three. Kick off is 7.30pm at Monks Sports Club and admission is £2 for Adults, £1 for Concessions and Juniors are free.

Rovers had a hard fought victory last Saturday over bottom side Peterlee Pumas which moved them up to fourth place in the league table but they are fully aware that the game against second placed Blackbrook will be an even sterner test of their credentials.

Rovers Head Coach Lee Westwood was pleased to get the two league points at the weekend against a revitalised Peterlee side. He said, “They had a completely different side to when we played them away a few weeks ago having strengthened substantially and they really did have a real dig but we ensured that there would be no upset by keeping our composure and closing the game out in the final quarter. The win will hopefully give us confidence going forward.”

Westwood, looking ahead to the Blackbrook game added, “These are the kind of games that we like to be involved in and it should be an absolute cracker. Blackbrook have been in fine form having lost just two games and drawn one so they will be coming with high hopes of getting the win but I have faith in my lads that they will be able to step up to the mark and put in a performance that will get us the right result. We have shown glimpses of what we are capable of in some of our games but we need to do that on a more regular basis if we are to reach our goal of gaining promotion. The lads really enjoy playing evening games so it would be great if we could get a big crowd down to watch and cheer them on.”

Rovers ‘A’ are at home on Saturday when they entertain Leigh Miners Rangers ‘A’ in the NWML Division Two. Kick off is 2.30pm at Monks Sports Club.
